My advice is to be a protection monk. Being a smiter is a bad idea because smiting just isn't very good. ANet, in my opinion, needs to make smiting significantly better, so that it's at least worth playing. It's fun, but smiters are basically only useful against undead. As for healing, everyone loves healing monks... but they also treat them horribly. People expect healing monks to be able to keep them alive, even if they rush in and aggro three patrols at the same time and start taking 500 DPS. When they die, a lot of people tend to ctrl+click their life bar over and over, even if you're in the middle of a fight, completely dry, and people around you are still dying. Then they yell at you for not being a good healer. While not everyone is like this, far from it, there are enough people like it to not make healing all that enjoyable. Plus, you don't even really get to watch the game, you just watch the little red bars. The reason I advise protector is first off, there aren't enough protector monks out there. Protection, especially at the later levels, is really, really useful. However, not many people choose to do it. It takes a bit more thought than healing, as you can't just look at red bars and click one and click a spell. However, it's worth it, and if you bring a good protector and a good healer, a party can live through a lot. However, my advice is to try out both protecting and healing, and smiting if you really want to, and just find out what you like best.

My farming build involves my monk at Smite lvl 16 using Shield of Judgement, Balthazar's Aura and Symbol of Wrath (sometimes Zealot's Fire or Smite Hex depending on the possibility of mesmers).

My secondary is a Mesmer - In quests I use Energy Tap to keep my energy up and might add Inspired Hex for fun. I have to experiment more with some of the mesmer skills - e.g. using Echo to maintain Aegis etc.

Mesmer is a very satisfying secondary.

All in one sentence... amazing. :P

Mo/R should be a respected choice? That's what I've heard. I've also seen Mo/W working... But just because you have warrior as your secondary, doesn't necessarily mean you tank.

Can't think of any names... wouldn't dare to propose any anyway, pretty much up to your likings.

edit- Oh you already made a Mo/W. Well, good luck with it

Yup, what's posted is the same old story..

But, there are planty of spots to go farming as a solo smiter and that's about the only time you can do it.

I made a Mo/Me about a week ago and I think it is great. I run Smiting main though. Healing is fine if your in a good group, but if your not I will only do it a minimal amount. Mes is a great secondary, but at the same point all classes have something to offer.
IF you want to sprint I'd say go with Ranger since they have 3 sprint spells and like a total of 5 or 6 Block/avoid stances as well. Dryders Defense is insain when dealing with Elemt.
